POWDERHORN – For nature

08 October 2018

POWDERHORN’s philosophy

Inspired by the pure nature of Jackson Hole, Wyoming, POWDERHORN creates authentic outdoor clothing with the aim of combining comfort, functionality and longevity.

Not only is the lining made of natural materials, but the fibers are made of cotton or wool, which are mixed with recycled plastic. The goal of POWDERHORN is environmentally friendly production while simultaneously reducing waste products.

Lavalan wool padding

The wool-padded jackets from POWDERHORN are filled with lavalan, a sheep's wool that is natural, pollutant-tested, ecological and pet-friendly. Behind lavalan is the German company Baur Nonwovens, which has a zero-waste philosophy and thus aims to ensure a more environmentally friendly production. This filling material combines the best raw materials and the latest production techniques. The washable wool guarantees an ease of care similar to synthetic fibers and offers exceptional comfort without losing its shape.

POWDERHORN's lavalan-padded jackets include the Teton Field Jacket and the Jackson Anorak.

Re:down

POWDERHORN works with Re:Down, a company that recycles down. Used down and feathers are collected, cleaned and put back into the textile cycle. Damaged feathers and down are converted into organic fertilizer in an upcycling process. This ensures an absence of waste products. It is not only the recycled materials that are important for Re:Down, but the process as well. Washing the down consumes quantities of water and energy. This is why the factory was built in Hungary at a location where 100-degree water – which is also recycled – gushes out of the ground. The result: lower energy consumption and cost savings.

POWDERHORN uses recycled down from Re:Down for its Original Leather Vests and Jackets.
